On May 19 from 10:00am to 3:00pm, the first annual Ideas to Inspire Storytelling Festival will be held at the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center in Casper WY.

Visit activity stations from many of the local Casper arts organizations including:

• The Natrona County Public Library
• Nicolaysen Art Museum
• Casper Planetarium
• Fort Caspar Museum
• The National Historic Trails Interpretive Center

Special waived admission to the Trails Center will be offered for all visitors to discover ways that we find inspiration in our life and to learn how we can use this inspiration to tell our story.

At 2:00pm Inda Eaton will host a special performance dedicated to the students of Casper.

‘Go West’ is definitely a driving album.  It’s about anywhere else but where you are while being where you are.  Currently, Inda is living in her adopted town of Amagansett, New York on the eastern end of Long Island.  She can only travel west.  She does so often.

Inda and the ‘Go West’ sessions are born out of live performance, connection to people and connection to heritage:  musical and otherwise.

We recorded 11 tracks in 3 days in complete takes at Cynthia’s state of the art studio in the woods.  The tracks are playfully intense and we can’t wait to share our notes with you when the record is ready to roll.

Security is mostly a superstition.
It does not exist in nature nor do the children of men experience it.
Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure.
Life is either a daring adventure or nothing

B. Rehm-Gerdes:  Guitar

Home Base:  Phoenix, Arizona

B. doesn’t talk about it much, but beyond his guitar prowess, he’s actually a brilliant recording engineer trained ‘out of the box’ before the age of pro tools. Inda met B. behind his Neve console in an analog studio in Phoenix, Arizona where they bonded while making, ‘Why the Desert’.  The relationship was sealed forever after an emotional discussion over the tom sounds in the last verse of James Taylor’s song, ‘Gaia’ (Hourglass):  ”and-I-looked-back-down-over-the mountain”.  Who thinks about these things?

Somewhere from the studio to a stage in Sedona, Arizona – B. had an epiphany that beyond his family, he would devote his energy to the guitar.  He was true to his word and has never stopped.  His guitar scholarship transcends any scale.  When left to his own devices, B. plays pure emotion and leaves nothing on the table.

Inda and B. talked about the ‘Go West’ concept for many moons before the actual sessions.  Every eventuality, scenario  and piece of gear were game planned and mapped out.  In the end, no plan survives the first contact.  In the end, we created ‘Go West’.

Curt Mychael:  Bass & Vocals

Home Base:  Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Inda met Curt one evening at Tomaso’s Pizza in Cedarburg, WI. while he was taking his mother out to dinner for her birthday.  Curt is close with Jeffrey and bass man, Chris Kringle.  When the scheduling opened up, we needed a groove master to ‘lay it down’ and it was a natural fit to have Curt join in on the ‘Go West’ sessions.  Relations that start with deep dish pizza are built to last.

Recently, Curt spent two weeks with Inda at Eve’s studio in LA for vocals and barbeque.  It turns out – he’s a foodie.  It turns out – he has a beautiful,

buttery voice.  It turns out – he’s a kick ass musician, writer and composer.  Please check out Curt’s work and welcome him to the Inda family.

Jeffrey Smith:  Drums & Percussion

Home Base:  Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Jeffrey plays barefoot and it is true that Inda and Jeffrey first met in a ‘PDQ’ (high end midwestern 7 eleven) parking lot north of Milwaukee in Saukeville, Wisconsin when Jeffrey was a gentlemen llama farmer.  It was love at first site even though Inda was an hour late to the meeting.  They solidified the relationship over ‘butter burgers with shegoygan hard rolls’, carmel apples and air drumming to Elton John’s “Someone Saved My Life Tonight”.   “Dammit – listen to me good!”

Jeffrey is a staple ingredient to a live Inda show and is taking hybrid percussion to the next level.  No one listened, counseled and contributed more to this project in a physical, spiritual and mental way than Jeffrey.  His raw emotion is exposed in the ‘Go West’ sessions like no other project.  We are truly hanging on to thrive from one fill to the next cymbal crash.

Eve Nelson:  Piano & Vocals

Home Base:  Los Angeles, California

Inda’s dog and Eve’s dog love playing together so it was inevitable that Inda and Eve would have to eventually speak to each other beyond chatty neighbor puppy talk.  Who knew where that would lead?

The truth is that Eve is a viscerally emotional bad ass piano player.  Most people miss that experience because she happens to be a tremendously accomplished producer who makes brilliant magic in the studio behind the scenes.  For this project, we locked her in a sound booth with a 7 foot Steinway grand and a producer headset.

Eve is a killer producer.  Inda thrives in a live show.  The collaboration just works.  ’Go West’ is a perfect example of Inda and Eve in the sandbox with no adult supervision.

The Sagewood 5th Grade in Casper WY collaborated with Inda to create, develop and record a song in the spirit of a school song or alma mater.  After initial discussion, the vision was to create an enduring melody/lyrics with possible pop elements that reflect the music taste of the current 5th grade in 2012.

Working in five groups of ten – students worked on lyrics, rhyme scheme, meter, context, vocabulary, song structure, basic melody, performance, recording, editing and mixing.   To get basic notes, chords and beats, we also worked in music sectionals designed around the existing music classes for strings, band and choir.

We had a great time creating together.  The fact that we ended up with this song is icing on the cake.  Kudos and gratitude to the Sagewood family!
