Our voices were truly heard during the 2017 summer midwest tour! The Concert on the Green at Enderis Park in Milwaukee, WI personifies the word community and was the highlight of the trip. Just before the music starts, the surrounding neighborhood fills in the grass with their lawn chairs, coolers, picnic baskets and portable tables. In Wisconsin, tailgating is not relegated to sporting events; they support the community, teams and festivals all year long. The Concert on the Green Committee (COTG) is very proud of this long standing tradition. Their custom made, portable stage sits in front of stone steps that formerly lead to the ice rink entrance. Curt’s (bass player) dad, Dan Hovland told me over some cheese spread & ritz crackers that he used to work at the ice rink as a kid. In addition to the food vendors, the COTG gives out free ice cream to the neighborhood.
Beyond the community support, our night at Enderis Park was pure magic because Jeffrey Smith was playing a cajon built by Curt Mychael at his Porter Shop. Curt currently lives in Nashville and flew in specifically for the show and to test out the new instrument.
