Shelter in Place, Inda Eaton?s 8th independently produced album is a stunning mix of emotionally charged anthems, ballads, and boot-stompers, featuring B. Rehm-Gerdes, Michael Gugliemo, Jeff Marshall and Jeffrey Smith (with special appearances by Eve Nelson, Nancy Atlas, Lee Lawler and Rose Lawler). This collection of eleven story-rich songs highlights the power of human connection and offers a dashboard-drumming, heart-healing journey through life, death, laughter and love.
Whereas Eaton?s previous albums deliver an ode to wanderlust and the personal circumstances that have prompted her lifelong escape artistry, Shelter in Place takes a hard, consequential look at being a home-life absentee, and offers a full-circle reckoning of the road?s darker side. As she herself states, Shelter in Place ?is a story about taking cover to process the outward chaos before emerging to connect on the next literal and metaphorical road trip.?
Shelter in Place was recorded at my home in Springs, NY. Two guys from Queens showed up in the dead of winter with a mini-van full of recording equipment ranging from analog solid state gear, vintage mics, digital processors to a convenience store security camera system used to monitor the sessions from the back bed room. In truth, Shelter in Place came together long before the mini van arrived and the process continued long after with rehearsals, songwriting, additional recording, Sunday dinners, spontaneous get-togethers and barbeques. We honored the good times and shared the struggle. The ideas & experience became the songs.
Love, gratitude & respect to the artists who joined together to create this project!
